Introducing our innovative "Bowl, Bench, Bucket" series - a collection of unique exercises that replicate the essential mechanics of swimming. All this, right in the comfort of your home. Just a bowl, a bench, and a bucket are all you need to master the fundamental principles of swimming, setting the stage for a smooth transition to the water.

How it works

Bowl: Starting with a bowl, we teach you the basics of breathing in an aquatic environment, helping you avoid unexpected surprises when you're in the pool.

Bucket: With the buckets, we prepare you for full submersion and the sensation of swimming forward, being entirely surrounded by water.

Bench: Next, we move on to the bench. Here, you'll learn about buoyancy and balance, the foundational elements of confident swimming.

  • 10,000 Person Pool Desert

    Our Boys & Girls Club is the only location in our 10,000+ member community with a pool. Every year we have an unmanageable amount of young people and adults that need swim lessons, and we previously never had the realistic ability to serve all of them. Thanks to this certification, we can now give primary swim education to the entire community! Even once they finally make it to the pool for an in-water class, they have mastered the basic skills and learn much quicker!

  • Creative and Effective

    Our non-profit focuses on reducing inequality and driving social change in aquatics! Our greatest challenge has always been providing consistent access to swim education for our youth of color. 1 or 2 pool days a summer were good, but they weren’t providing the kids with enough skill base to enjoy pools or the beach safely. Now we can give swim classes all over New York and make the most of our limited pool access because the kids already know the basics!

Do you have any questions?

  • The most essential tools are clean water, a bowl, and an internet connection. Within the certification, many alternatives for other accessible tools are provided.

  • The course materials were designed for persons aged 6- 99. Age-specific programming for younger audiences is regularly discussed during the monthly coaching calls.

  • The Monthly Coaching Calls are held by either Jamal Hill or one of the Swim Up Hiill Foundation, Master instructors

  • All of our members have the ability to host their classes/ programs through our virtual platform. Everything from registration to video hosting can be handed off to your swim Up Hill team.
