Learn to swim on land

Our main goal is to get anxious parents and students comfortable with getting wet before they even get near the water.  We start with a series of at-home exercises called “Bowl, Bench, Bucket” which simulates underwater breathing, the biggest challenge for new swimmers. Using three household items, a bowl, a bench, and a bucket, you can master swimming mechanics from home.

Accidental Drownings

Youths of color drown at an alarming rate 5x that of the overall population. Decades of generational trauma and systemic racism have created an underrepresented class of aquaphobes - our neglected neighbors who purposely avoid contact with the water for themselves and their children.

Swim Up Hill provides innovative and culturally relevant swim instruction to the 50M low to middle-income people of color in the U.S. and around the world, who don’t know how to swim and are at extreme risk of drowning. We not only save lives, but we also improve lives.
